2009
This year it has been fun to reflect on the ways we have been able to teach our four year old about faith and how it plays out - the practical ways that God provided when Daddy didn't have a job, praying for others, hiding the word in our hearts through memorizing scripture as a family, God helping us to not be afraid (especially of Swiper and a skunk), forgiving Daddy when he killed her first pet hermit crab by leaving him in the car overnight and God's provision of a new hermit crab the next day!
Fun to see faith through a child's eyes especially around Christmas time.
Here are some of our highlights from the year...
Eiley Jane
We started off the year in February welcoming Eiley Jane into the world on the 26th. Eiley means "bright and spirited" and Jane means "follower of a gracious God". So far, her first name seems to fit her...for those of you who don't know, Cordell and I were both surprised when she arrived with red hair! Eiley, now 10 months, just started crawling a couple of weeks ago and is pulling up on everything! Her first word was "Addie", whom she adores. She seems to love people and says "Hi" to everyone we meet.Patient Education Systems
Why do we always talk about Cordell's jobs in our Christmas letters?!? Cordell was laid off from a three year stint at Fair Isaac in January, right before Eiley's arrival. In March he joined a start-up on the executive team as the first employee after the two founders. This is a risk that we never would have chosen, but we feel he is exactly where God wants him.
Amanda's Wedding

Cordell's sister, Amanda got married in July to Steve Tilley. Cordell, Addie and Becky were all in the wedding party. Adelynn treasured being a flower girl with her cousin Grace and Steve's niece, Shelby. We enjoyed seeing all of the family that came in for the celebration from all over the country.

Cordell's an MBA Grad!
After eighteen months in the EMBA program at the University of Denver, Cordell graduated on August 12th and we were ready to PAR-TAY! Becky hired a band and we had a little street party with our family and friends. A highlight of the night was that Mrs. Anderson, Cordell's 5th and 6th grade teacher, came to celebrate his accomplishment. Mrs. Anderson changed Cordell's academic path by investing in him and transformed him from a cut-up to a nerdy (straight "A", salutatorian, etc...) school boy. Thanks Mrs. Anderson!

Adelynn Ann
In late September we celebrated Adelynn's 4th birthday at Disneyland. Grammy Cathy, Aunt Laura, Uncle Jason Schlitt and Uncle Jason Farrar met us there for the festivities. We had a blast, oh and Addie did too! Adelynn loves being a big sister and is definitely a "little mommy". Addie is growing up way too fast, she wanted a license, keys and a car for her birthday - where does she come up with this stuff? She loves to take "initiative" in many ways...making her bed, clearing her plate from the table and brushing her teeth - all without being asked! She loves to dance and sing...her "creative" lyrics are very entertaining.

Love everything - love the stories, love the pictures, love it! And you look so glamorous in the first picture. The only bummer about adding a password is that updates won't show up on other people's Google Reader (Margo did the same thing). But count me in!
I definitely want to keep reading your blog! It's been a while since I've been here...but I loved reading your end of year post! How is everything going with Cordell's new job? It seemed like a really cool company when he showed me the video in July.
Hope you guys are all doing great!! Carla
